83 MPH, or 83 Miles Per Hour, is a Chennai-based hard rock band formed in January 2011. Known for giving audiences an energetic vibe and undeniable versatility in their music, the band has made it to Indian music today. Drawing inspiration from legendary acts like Aerosmith, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Muse, ZZ Top, Porcupine Tree, and Grits, 83 MPH blends hard-driving heavy metal with progressive flavours that are both familiar and refreshingly unique.

The band consists of six musicians, and every member brings with them a specific style to be added to the overall dynamic flow of the music. It is this variety in talent and backgrounds that contributes most to the reasons why the band has a mass appeal and how they have been able to create such a complex, energetic, and memorable performance.

The impressive accolades abound for 83 MPH. Some of the competitions in which they have emerged as winners include Channel V LaunchPad 2012, Hard Rock Calling (Bangalore Zonals), and RayBan Never Hide Sound 2012. They are as potent as performing with great international bands such as Vildhjarta (a Swedish metal band), Simple Plan (a French-Canadian rock band), and noted Indian bands like Parikrama and Indus Creed.

They also have features in prominent magazines, such as The Score Magazine, RollingStone India, Pulse 72+, and FHM Magazine. Their long list of awards has been won in MCC Deepwoods 2012, Ethiraj Srishti 2012, WCC Festeve 2012, NIT Calicut Ragam 2012, MCC Octavia 2011, and KMC Pradharshini 2011 and as first runner-up in NLS Strawberry Fields 2011.
