Alienz, a vibrant multilingual band, is redefining the Indian regional music landscape with its sound and approach. Singing in Bengali, Hindi, and English, Alienz developed a characteristic sound that blends Progressive Rock with all sorts of other musical styles. One of Alienz's strongest aspects is their affinity for fusing genres ranging from Indian classical to jazz, classic rock, and love ballads—to rich and varied effect.
Thus the genesis of the band, coinciding five musicians of diverse backgrounds and musical influences who chanced upon each other en route to realizing one dream: to find a new genre in Indian regional music. Their association founded Alienz, a name for depth of music, technical brilliance, and unexplored experimentation. Alienz has proved to convey a common man's thought through music, be it originals or the reinterpretations of classics.
In the year 2007, the band hit the limelight with a bang when they emerged as the 2nd runner-up of the celebrated band competition Band-e-Mataram 3, organized by Sangeet Bangla & Sambad Pratidin. That same year they clinched the Zonal Championship in KBL Rockstar 2, thus asserting their rise onto the indie music scene. Yet the crowning glory was the Airtel Band Wagon—a star-studded reality show on ETV Bangla—and received the honor from the legendary A.R. Rahman himself.
The music of Alienz has been recognized with awards and also succeeded in winning the hearts of a dedicated fan following, particularly among the youngsters and rock purists who appreciate their versatility and experimental spirit. Recognition of their talent came when they were selected in the compilation album Kolkata Underground as one of the top 10 bands from Kolkata, produced by Saregama.
The band has continued to win acclaim through energetic live performances, rich musicality, and passion for innovation, inspiring and entertaining audiences all throughout India. No matter with Alienz on stage or in the studio, these guys keep on welcoming into existence the future of regional rock music.
