Bhagat was born on April 22, 1974, in New Delhi, India. He completed his schooling from The Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, and went on to earn his engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 1995. After working for a few years as an investment banker, he pursued his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad.
