Gayatree Gaikwad-Gulhane, popularly known as GayatreeG, is an extremely accomplished Hindustani classical vocalist specializing in khayal, ghazal, dadra, thumri, and abhang. She comes from the very elite Patiala and Kirana gharanas and has been trained under her father, Pt. Suryakant Gaikwad, and mother, Smt. Sangeeta Gaikwad. Her father, a disciple of Pt. Marutrao Dondekar, is connected to legendary musicians like Ustad Amir Khan and Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.
Gayatree gave her first public performance at five years old in Alandi, Pune. She sang with a soulful voice and has attracted many across all ages since then. She has taken guidance from some of the very top artists in the country, including Shri Ravi Date, Padma Bhushan Dr. Prabha Atre, and Padmashri Pt. Tulsidas Borkar. She had the opportunity to perform in such elite programs as Khazana 2018 in Mumbai with Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota, and Talat Aziz, among others. She also performed at the Serendipity Arts Festival, IIT Bombay, Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa Barsi, and various baithaks across India. She has received several awards for her contributions to music, including the Kala Hirakani Award, Yuva Kala Gaurav Puraskar, and Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Scholarship. She was also given the Composer Dr. Salil Kulkarni Sangeet Saadhna Award and was graded as a "B High Grade" artist by All India Radio for ghazal.
Gayatree holds a Master of Arts in Music (Vocal) from Bharati Vidyapeeth University and Visharad degrees in Vocal, Tabla, and Harmonium from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Deeply mastering the nuances of both classical and semi-classical music, she is always sure to enthrall the audience across the world with a blend of tradition and innovation in her endeavor toward enriching the Indian music heritage.
