JHANU is a Tamil rock band that, as the word 'pioneering' suggests, has fused modern rock energy with lyrical beauty in Tamil like nobody before. The band came into formation with brothers Jhanu Chanthar and Udhay Bharath as a two-man entry for a walk-in competition. Since then, JHANU has been captivating audiences across South India, giving live performances to thousands and headlining major festivals alongside bands like Avial and Skrat.
Their journey commenced with the release of their first single and music video, "Prachanai," in July 2013, and the success of this song opened the doors for the two other well-acclaimed singles, an indicator of their growing presence in the indie music scenario. A big step for them came when JHANU performed six original tracks for the acclaimed Kappa TV show Music Mojo. The live session videos released on YouTube further add to their fame and present their musical prowess.
JHANU's sound shares a strong freedom of expression, with each song having its own unique story. Their original tracks resonate in the hearts of rock and metal lovers; these, along with mellower tracks, have gained them a widely varied and loyal fan following.
