Krosswindz is a Kolkata-based band from India that plays rock and folk-fusion. Since 1990, Krosswindz has been carrying the soulful sound that is still enthralling audiences. This band has a unique way of blending traditional Indian folk with modern world music and has played a pivotal role in urbanizing Indian folk music, introducing it to a global audience with its own signature touch.
The band started its journey by performing at college festivals and soon garnered attention for the powerful and soulful music. In the years since, Krosswindz have toured extensively all over India and abroad, featuring at some of the most coveted music festivals and concerts. This is one of the very few Bengali rock bands with female lead vocalists, which lends a unique character to their shows.
Krosswindz has also won many other top accolades. They are the first Asian band to win two awards at the Grassroots Grammy Awards held in Indianapolis, USA, where they won the Best International Group and Best Asian Album titles. Further, the band has also won the much-coveted Album of the Year title at the Indian Music Awards—Mirchi Music Awards in 2012 and 2016, respectively.
Krosswindz has a harmonic sound that reflects a blend of Bengali folk traditions, rock, jazz, and world music.
