Lisa Mishra is an Indian-American singer-songwriter who specializes in blending Western pop, R&B, and Indian classical music. Born on August 4, 1993, in Berhampur, Odisha, she immigrated to Chicago, Illinois, at the age of six. At four, she started singing, and by fifteen, she had learned guitar on her own. Her musical career was defined through YouTube, where she posted covers and her own compositions, slowly gaining an ardent fan base.
She studied Economics and Religion at Illinois Wesleyan University but also pursued her love for music. Upon graduation, she was working as a data analyst but continued to make music during her leisure time. In May 2018, a breakthrough moment came when she posted a mashup of the Bollywood tracks "Tareefan" and "Let Me Love You" on Instagram. The video became a hit, attracting the notice of Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, who invited her to Mumbai to sing the official reprise of "Tareefan" for the movie "Veere Di Wedding."
This chance in Bollywood opened doors for Mishra, and she got to sing songs like "The Wakhra Song" (Judgementall Hai Kya), "Chandigarh Mein" (Good Newwz), and "Nain Ta Heere" (JugJugg Jeeyo). She also continued with her solo music career, dropping singles like "Nai Chaida" and "Running Back to You," demonstrating her capacity to mix heartfelt lyrics with modern beats.
In 2024, Mishra dropped her first album, "Sorry, I'm Late," tapping into her distinctive sound—a blend of Indian and international influences. She also made her acting debut in the series "Call Me Bae," which was made by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
