Mithoon Sharma, more commonly known as Mithoon, is an acclaimed Mumbai-based Indian music composer, singer, and songwriter whose soulful compositions have reached the hearts of people around the world. He found much recognition from Bollywood cinema, especially when his contemporaneous music came along with a pinch of classical flavors.
He achieved great success with the super hit from the film Rockstar in 2011, 'Tum Hi Tum' sung by Mohit Chauhan. A composition by Mithoon himself, it was a chartbuster and catapulted Mithoon to the league of the industry's top composers. What is little known, though, is that he has also been singing most of his compositions.
One of his most famous songs is "Tum Hi Ho" from Aashiqui 2 (2013). This heartbreaking romantic ballad, sung by Arijit Singh, became an instant hit and remains one of Bollywood's most iconic songs. The track earned Mithoon multiple awards and catapulted him into mainstream stardom.
Other notable songs by Mithoon include "Raabta" from Agent Vinod in 2012, "Humdard" from Ek Villain in 2014, and Sanam Re from the film Sanam Re in 2016. His work is often characterized by a deep emotional connection and the ability to convey feelings through music.
Mithoon's compositions are mostly minimalist in style, providing major reliance on the melody and lyric rather than orchestration. His soulful creations have made him a favorite among those who appreciate romantic and emotional Bollywood-type music. Mithoon had found his place in the list of the Indian film industry's best music composers through his melodic compositions.
