Neel and the Lightbulbs is a Kolkata based Indie Rock band. Neel Adhikari, an established Indie singer songwriter, jammed with Subhodip , Roheet and Avinash on the songs he’d been writing for the last few years. So they quickly recorded a few songs with a small audience in a house concert, which was shot by a few filmmaker friends of Neel’s. That video became quite popular with online audience. And the band was formed. Neel Adhikari- Singer and a guitarist par excellence. He has played in several bands in Kolkata, and through his journey in music of many years, he has collaborated with some award winning world famous musicians.Asian Dub Foundation, Susheela Raman and Sam Mills. He is also a professional music director and a composer for films. His contribution to the film ‘Gandu’ by Q, has earned him fame through the international film and music circuit. The next one being a film called ‘Tasher Desh’ also by Q. This was done via his Indo-British Music Production House called MANA.
Subhodip Banerjee- A champion guitar player and a backing vocalist. He is the youngest member of the band. Currently also plays with his acoustic duo (Ifs and Buts) and Anupam Roy and award winning Bengali singer.
Roheet Mukherjee- Bass guitar player. Has played in many bands and also contributed to the soundtrack of award winning controversial film ‘Gandu’. Currently also plays with his other punk kitsch band Ganesh Talkies and Anupam Roy as well.
Avinash Chordia- Drummer, the heart of a band. The most wanted and sought after drum master in town. Also plays with The Saturday night Blues band with Ehsaan Noorani and indie band called ‘The Supersonics’. Avinash is also a producer with the Delhi based content creation company ‘The Peninsula Studios’.
