Nikhil Paul George is a British-Indian musician, singer, composer, and guitarist who has become famous for his work in Indian film music. He was born and brought up in Nagpur, India, and grew up with a deep interest in the fusion of different genres of music, from South American beats to Indian tunes and gospel songs. This diversity in his interest brought him to learn film music professionally at the Royal College of Music in London, from which he graduated in 2009.
Starting his career, Nikhil worked closely with well-known Indian music composer Pritam and co-wrote music for several Bollywood soundtracks. His voice takes center stage in the 2012 film “Barfi!” where he voiced the tracks "Aashiyaan" and "Main Kya Karoon." The two songs received international acclaim, and his capability to add depth and emotion to modern compositions became apparent.
Apart from singing, Nikhil has established himself as an all-around music producer and composer. He has collaborated with renowned ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, fusing Western classical nuances with Indian traditional sounds. His dedication to cross-cultural musical experimentation is evident through his varied work.
Over the past few years, Nikhil's artistic activities have also seen an extension into composing and singing for different projects. Particularly, he wrote the song "Farq Nahi Padta" for the Amazon Prime show "Farzi," working with composers Sachin-Jigar and lyricist Priya Saraiya. This work is a testament to his ongoing transformation as an artist, opening himself up to new platforms and audiences.
Nikhil's path has not been without difficulties. He has freely shared the experiences of trusting his instincts and finding his way through the challenges of the music industry. Through these, his commitment to quality and artistic integrity has been cemented, underscoring the necessity of self-advocacy and perseverance.
In the future, Nikhil is interested in furthering his creative endeavors, such as the production of his album "Love in America." As an entrepreneur, he hopes to guide and enable up-and-coming music creators through his business, NPG Music, building a community that will support the development of their art.
