Ramya Pothuri is an Indian-American singer-songwriter and producer with a soulful voice and poignant songwriting. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she began teaching herself guitar at the age of 11. At 16, she relocated to Hyderabad, India, where she soon became immersed in the local music scene, even playing a six-month residency at a high-end hotel.
Ramya relocated to Mumbai in 2016 to dedicate herself to her own music. She released her first EP, "We Never Left," in 2016, touring it in an intimate house concert series entitled "The Living Room Tour." Her sound blends folk, pop, and R&B influences with artists such as John Mayer and Norah Jones, yet maintains her own distinctive voice and emotionally charged songwriting.
She has performed at some of India's most famous stages and festivals, playing in places such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and festivals such as the Lil Flea festival. Her enthusiasm for sharing her music saw her cross borders as well when she went on a DIY tour of Sri Lanka in 2017, bringing her music to new listeners in small, stripped-down venues.
Ramya ventured into music in 2018 by starting the duo "A Few Good Friends" with guitarist and producer Apurv Isaac. Her recent releases like "Summer" and "It's Not Worth It" show improvement in her craft, mixing lush melodies with raw, honest lyrics.
Now residing in Los Angeles, Ramya continues to write, produce, and work with artists globally, creating songs that touch the hearts of listeners. With her unique sound and tireless commitment to her art, she is making a permanent niche for herself in the international indie music world.
