Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most well-known and versatile actors in present-day Bollywood. He was born on September 28, 1982, in Mumbai, India, from the family of one of the oldest families of Indian cinema. His father was a famous actor, and his grandfather, Raj Kapoor, was one of the great filmmakers of that era. With such a legacy, Ranbir had big shoes to fill but managed to carve out his own niche in the industry.
He entered Bollywood in 2007 with Saawariya, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie did not really do so well at the box office, but he did catch their attention, and his career rose to become one of the most promising young stars of the industry in no time. He received his break in 2009 when he appeared in Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, both showing his charm and range.
Ranbir has proved over the years that he is capable of playing diverse roles. He played a carefree and whimsical character in Rockstar (2011), for which he received critical acclaim by portraying a troubled musician. He then played an intense and complex character in Barfi! (2012), which won him several awards. His performance in Tamasha (2015), where he portrayed a conflicted individual torn between societal expectations and personal desires, further cemented his status as an actor of substance.
Apart from acting, Ranbir Kapoor also started a film production house through his company, Picture Shuru Productions, and also does social work as a philanthropist.
In Sanju 2018, where he plays actor Sanjay Dutt to the screen, and the box office success of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013, Ranbir still stands among the major faces of Bollywood, famous for their range, dedication, and their star appeal on the big screen.
