Swaroop Khan, born August 6, 1991, in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, is a talented Indian playback singer renowned for fusing the rich heritage of Rajasthani folk music with modern Bollywood rhythms. Having spent his formative years in the midst of Rajasthan, he was surrounded by the lively folk culture since childhood and learned to sing and play classical instruments such as the Khadtal and Morchang.
His artistry was recognized on a national scale in 2010, when he took part in Indian Idol's fifth season. His booming voice and individual folk flavor endeared him to the viewers, and soon enough, he had become everyone's favorite contestant. This opened doors to Bollywood soundtracks, which Swaroop entered with a fresh brand of authenticity brought to film soundtracks by his own voice.
He debuted in Bollywood with the song "Tharki Chokro" from the blockbuster PK, and it was an overnight hit.
