F16s is an alternative rock band that was formally constituted in August 2012. The group was born out of a shared passion for creating and performing music that resonates with the modern ear. Before forming F16s, the members were part of other notable Chennai bands, including Blacklisted, Bishops Got Papes, and Totem. This experience laid the groundwork for their fresh and innovative sound that has since garnered a dedicated following.
The original lineup of the band had vocalist-guitarist Josh Fernandez, bassist Shashank Manohar, keyboardist Harshan Radhakrishnan, and drummer Vikram Yesudas. In 2013, guitarist Abhinav Krishnaswamy replaced the original guitarist Viraj Yesudas. This gave a new dimension to the band's sound, as he was earlier associated with the Chennai-based alternative band, The Shakey Rays.
Since then, the F16s have established a niche of their own in alternative rock music, with catchy melodies, incisive lyrics, and raw energy coming alive in their performances. Their music is a reflection of contemporary life, offering a mix of introspection and exuberance that strikes a chord with listeners.
