Zakir Khan is a highly acclaimed Indian stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and presenter. Zakir is renowned for his sharp humor and for his storytelling, which people relate to. Zakir was born on August 20, 1987, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He shot to fame when he won India's Best Stand Up in 2012, a comedy competition conducted by Comedy Central. That is when Zakir started to take the Indian comedy circuit by storm.
Zakir's popularity springs from his refreshing combination of observational humor, cultural references, and the trade mark delivery in which he often peppers his speech with local dialect. His catchphrases and his iconic characters, especially "Sakht Launda," have made him a household name in Indian comedy. Zakir has also dabbled in radio and penning. He has ghostwritten some pieces and even gone on to produce popular radio programs.
Besides a successful career in stand-up, Zakir was also one of the three mentors on the popular comedy reality show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, during its 5th season in 2017, a show that features Hollywood presenter Akshay Kumar as a judge. It is safe to say that his influence on aspiring comedians furthered his place within the Indian comedy scene.
In 2015, he collaborated on a very popular podcast On Air with AIB where discussion ranges from pop culture, politics to entertainment and hosted along with Anurag Kaushik and Akshar Pathak. Zakir once again flexed his versatile co-host muscles on the occasion of 5th Annual Golden Kela Awards-the 'roasted version' of the Oscars.
His performances have spanned across India and internationally, with Zakir headlining numerous shows in countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia. Zakir Khan has gained an immense following and remains one of India's most celebrated and influential comedians to this day.
