The Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, located close to India Gate in New Delhi, is a historic and top field hockey stadium in India. It was built in 1933 as the Irwin Amphitheatre and renamed in 2002 after the great hockey player Dhyan Chand. The stadium was renovated extensively for the 2010 Men's Hockey World Cup and the Commonwealth Games and upgraded its facilities to international standards.
